Il nuovo indice di Geotab mette in luce un forte divario di performance tra le capitali europee 

MILANO, 13 maggio 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Geotab, leader globale nelle soluzioni per i veicoli connessi, presenta il suo primo indice di efficienza del trasporto merci urbano in Europa, dal titolo “Il costo del traffico”. Il report evidenzia un divario di performance del 144% tra le principali città europee, con Berlino al primo posto nella gestione logistica delle merci. Roma si posiziona al quarto posto, dopo Amsterdam e Dublino. 

Ogni giorno, milioni di veicoli attraversano le città europee trasportando ciò che è alla base dell’economia: cibo, farmaci, materie prime, pacchi. Tuttavia, non tutte le città lo fanno con la stessa efficienza. Il report evidenzia come una stessa flotta, con gli stessi veicoli, possa trovarsi ad affrontare condizioni completamente diverse a seconda della città in cui opera, con conseguenze significative in termini di costi, emissioni e prestazioni. 

Da un lato Berlino, con un punteggio di 61 su 100*, si distingue tra le capitali europee, in un contesto in cui il traffico resta gestibile e, soprattutto, prevedibile. All’opposto, Madrid si colloca all’ultimo posto con 25 punti, segnando un divario di efficienza del 144% tra le città agli estremi della classifica: una differenza netta che si traduce direttamente in tempo, consumi di carburante e costi operativi maggiori. 

Amsterdam (59) segue Berlino, quasi eguagliandola in termini di efficienza. Dublino (49) e Roma (48) si collocano subito dopo, in una fascia ancora funzionale, mentre Parigi (37) e Londra (29) si uniscono a Madrid in una categoria di città in cui le flotte vengono penalizzate dal sistema stesso. 

Roma sembra una delle città più difficili in cui spostarsi, considerato che lo studio registra proprio qui il peggior livello di congestione sulle strade. Tuttavia, la realtà è più articolata: la capitale italiana ottiene il punteggio più alto in termini di inefficienza dei percorsi, ma registra il più basso livello di spreco dovuto alle soste a motore acceso. Questo perché, rispetto ad altri centri, il traffico scorre in modo lento ma costante, invece che con il tipico andamento “a singhiozzo” che in città come Parigi o Londra fa aumentare i consumi. Inoltre, il divario di 26 punti tra le prestazioni dei veicoli commerciali e quelle delle auto (il più ampio rilevato a livello europeo) è legato alle finestre di consegna: a Roma, le tratte pianificate nel rispetto delle regole di accesso per le consegne superano quelle non strutturate più che in qualsiasi altra città. 

La verità dietro ai dati: la rete stradale incide sulle performance, ma è l’organizzazione a fare la differenza 

Ciò che emerge dal primo indice di efficienza del trasporto merci urbano in Europa di Geotab è un cambio di prospettiva nel modo di interpretarla, con una minore attenzione alla congestione del traffico quotidiano e un focus maggiore sul ruolo delle infrastrutture che influenzano la mobilità delle città. 

A Berlino, una struttura urbana policentrica distribuisce il traffico su più direzioni, creando una rete scorrevole e stabile nell’arco della giornata. Ad Amsterdam, invece, la concentrazione delle vie e l’ottimizzazione dei semafori permettono ai veicoli di continuare a muoversi, anche a velocità ridotta, evitando lunghe code. 

Le infrastrutture, però, sono solo una parte del contesto. A fare la differenza, in misura altrettanto decisiva, è il modo in cui le flotte pianificano, programmano e si adattano alla rete in cui operano. Città come Londra, Parigi e Madrid dimostrano che il problema non è solo il traffico in sé, ma l’imprevedibilità. Ed è proprio questa a generare, per le flotte, quella che i dati di Geotab indicano come una vera e propria “tassa strutturale”, che implica tempistiche più lunghe tra una consegna e l’altra, finestre di consegna disattese e perdite di efficienza che non possono essere risolte semplicemente ottimizzando i percorsi o formando meglio gli autisti. 

A un livello più profondo e forse inaspettato, anche le città lente possono essere efficienti, purché il traffico resti in movimento. Roma, ad esempio, unisce un’elevata congestione con uno tra i livelli più bassi di tempi di fermo dei mezzi, perché il traffico procede in modo continuo, seppur lento, invece di alternare stop e ripartenze. Londra, al contrario, si colloca all’estremo opposto: qui il continuo ‘stop-and-go’ favorisce l’inefficienza, maggiori consumi di carburante e l’aumento delle emissioni.

*Nota metodologica 

L’indice di efficienza del trasporto merci urbano in Europa assegna a ciascuna città un punteggio da 0 a 100, basato su due dimensioni valutate separatamente per le auto e per i veicoli commerciali, poi combinate con una ponderazione 60/40 (auto/veicoli commerciali) per riflettere il fatto che la maggior parte della domanda stradale proviene dai veicoli per il trasporto di passeggeri, mentre la componente relativa ai veicoli commerciali cattura in modo specifico l’efficienza logistica. 

La prima dimensione, che guarda al flusso del traffico, rappresenta il 75% del punteggio di ciascun veicolo e misura tre elementi: il carico di congestione (congestione cumulata nell’arco della giornata, 50% del punteggio), le finestre non congestionate (ore al giorno di traffico scorrevole, 25% del punteggio) e la variabilità del tempo di viaggio (prevedibilità dei tempi di viaggio, 25% del punteggio). 

La seconda dimensione, che prende in considerazione i costi del traffico, copre il restante 25% e misura le soste a motore acceso del veicolo durante il percorso come indicatore dello spreco generato dal sistema. Tempi di fermo più elevati indicano maggiore congestione, sincronizzazione dei semafori inadeguata e colli di bottiglia. 

I costi del carburante a motore acceso sono stati stimati utilizzando i prezzi medi alla pompa del 2025, pubblicati nel Weekly Oil Bulletin della Commissione Europea per le città dell’UE, e il set di dati sui prezzi settimanali dei carburanti del Governo del Regno Unito per Londra, convertiti al tasso medio di cambio GBP/EUR del 2025.

Digital banking platform surpasses R$ 42 billion in deposits and R$ 5 billion in loan portfolio, supported by the expansion of its banking platform and operating leverage during the period 

SÃO PAULO, May 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — PagBank (NYSE: PAGS), one of Brazil’s largest digital banking platforms and a specialist in serving Brazilian entrepreneurs, announces its results for the first quarter of 2026 (1Q26). 

During the quarter, recurring net income totaled R$ 575 million, up 4% year over year. 

“We started the year with consistent results, even amid a more challenging macroeconomic environment, reinforcing the strength of our strategy and execution discipline. The period was marked by revenue expansion, the continued advancement of our banking platform, as well as efficiency gains and operating leverage,” says Gustavo Sechin, CFO of PagBank. 

Net revenue reached R$ 3.3 billion in the quarter, representing 6% growth compared to the same period last year, mainly driven by accelerated growth in the banking platform. 

The highlight remained the strong growth in banking revenue, which expanded by 41% year over year. As a result, ROAE increased to 15.8%, up 80 basis points from the previous year, reinforcing the Company’s improving profitability profile. 

Deposits totaled R$42 billion, an increase of 23% year over year, reflecting customer confidence and the strength of the Company’s capital structure, which is also supported by AAA ratings from the three largest global credit rating agencies. The loan portfolio reached R$ 5 billion, expanding 36% year over year, with highlights including working capital loans, which grew 191% year over year, as well as credit cards and payroll loans. 

PagBank ended the quarter with 34 million customers, up 6% year over year, and a base of 6.3 million merchants and entrepreneurs. As a result, cash-in volume — which includes inflows into our PagBank accounts— totaled R$ 81 billion during the period, an increase of 11% year over year.

Geotab’s new Index reveals major performance gap between Europe’s capital cities 

DUBLIN, May 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Geotab, a global leader in connected vehicle and asset management solutions, today published its first European Freight Efficiency Index titled “The Cost of Standing Still” revealing a 144% performance gap between Europe’s major cities with Berlin ranking highest in freight efficiency and Dublin in third place. 

Every day, millions of vehicles move through Europe’s cities carrying the things that keep economies alive – food, medicine, materials, parcels. But not all cities move them equally. The report uncovers that the same fleet, running the same vehicles, can experience fundamentally different realities depending on the city it operates in – with wide-reaching consequences for cost, emissions and performance. 

At one end, Berlin leads the Index with a score of 61 out of 100, where traffic remains manageable and, crucially, predictable. At the other, Madrid ranks last with a score of 25, creating a 144% efficiency gap between the best and worst-performing cities – a stark difference that translates directly into time, fuel and operational cost. 

Amsterdam (59) trails just behind Berlin, nearly matching the city in terms of efficiency. Dublin (49) and Rome (48) follow forming a workable tier, while Paris (37) and London (29) join Madrid in a category where the system itself begins to work against the fleet. 

Dublin sits in the middle tier with evident but manageable congestion and broadly consistent journey times. Where freight operators have an edge is scheduling: unlike passenger and service vehicle fleets tied to business hours and customer appointments, freight operators can structure delivery windows around known congestion periods. In Dublin, the data shows that this flexibility translates directly into better performance with freight operators consistently outperforming passenger vehicle fleets operating in the same conditions. 

The real story: the road shapes performance but operations determine the gap 

What emerges from Geotab’s first ‘European Freight Efficiency Index’ is a shift in how freight efficiency should be understood – away from day-to-day congestion and towards the infrastructure that shapes how cities move. 

In Berlin, a polycentric layout distributes traffic across multiple routes, creating a flowing network that remains stable throughout the day. In Amsterdam, compact design and signal optimisation keep vehicles moving – even at slow speeds – rather than queuing. 

But infrastructure is only part of the picture. How fleets plan, schedule and adapt to the network they operate in is equally consequential. Cities like London, Paris and Madrid reveal that congestion alone is not the defining issue – unpredictability is. And for fleets, that unpredictability creates what the Geotab data points to as a ‘structural tax’: extra buffer time, broken delivery windows and lost efficiency that cannot be solved through routing or driver training alone. 

At a fundamental, and perhaps counterintuitive level, cities that move slowly can still be efficient, if they keep moving.Rome, for example, combines high congestion with some of the lowest idling waste, as traffic flows in a continuous crawl rather than a stop-start pattern. London, by contrast, sits at the opposite end – where repeated stopping and starting drives inefficiency, fuel waste and emissions.

Methodology 

The European Urban Freight Efficiency Index scores each city on a scale of 0 to 100, based on two dimensions evaluated separately for passenger vehicles and trucks, then combined using a 60/40 weighting (passenger/truck) to reflect that most road demand comes from passenger vehicles while the truck component captures logistics efficiency specifically. 

The first dimension, how traffic flows, accounts for 75% of each vehicle score and measures three things: congestion burden (cumulative congestion across the day, 50% weight), uncongested windows (hours per day of free-flowing traffic, 25% weight), and travel time variability (journey time predictability, 25% weight). 

The second dimension, what congestion costs, accounts for the remaining 25%, measuring mid-trip vehicle idling as a proxy for waste produced by the system. Higher idle ratios indicate congestion, poor signal timing and bottlenecks. 

Idle fuel costs were estimated using 2025 average pump prices from the European Commission’s Weekly Oil Bulletin for EU cities, and the UK Government’s Weekly Road Fuel Prices dataset for London, converted at the 2025 average GBP/EUR rate. 

All scores are based on full-year 2025 data (January–December) from Geotab’s connected vehicle platform across seven cities: Berlin, Amsterdam, Dublin, Rome, Paris, London and Madrid. Scores represent normalised, relative comparisons from a sample of connected vehicles, not a census.

WILMINGTON, Del., May 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — A new industry study released today and developed by a technical working group co-led by The Chemours Company (Chemours) (NYSE: CC) and Solstice Advanced Materials Inc. (Nasdaq: SOLS), finds that refrigerant emissions from automotive air conditioning systems in Europe could be reduced by up to 60%+ annually by 2050, with an average of half of cumulative emissions avoided between 2030 and 2050, through coordinated measures implemented across the full automotive value chain. 

The comprehensive research, conducted by a technical working group and informed by stakeholders involving the whole vehicle lifecycle, including leading automotive manufacturers, suppliers, and refrigerant experts, shows that significant reductions can be achieved. For the European market, the study provides detailed lifecycle-based assessments of refrigerant emissions. 

The findings highlight the critical role of collaborative industry action and circular economy solutions, including reclamation and recycling, in accelerating Europe’s climate and sustainability goals.

L’operazione, condotta dai finanzieri dei Comandi Provinciali di Firenze e Reggio Calabria insieme al personale dello S.C.I.C.O., ha portato alla confisca di un patrimonio stimato in circa 200mila euro.

Gli affari criminali in Toscana: usura a Siena e droga a Pistoia

La figura del criminale, caratterizzata da una pericolosità sociale costante fin dalla fine degli anni Novanta, è emersa con forza in due distinte inchieste coordinate dalla Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia del capoluogo toscano e condotte dal G.I.C.O. fiorentino.

L’episodio più allarmante per l’economia regionale riguarda l’indagine Buenaventura. In questo filone, l’uomo ha preso di mira un imprenditore del settore tessile attivo nella provincia di Siena. A fronte di un credito concesso, il calabrese applicava tassi di interesse usurai che superavano la soglia del 66% su base annua. Per recuperare il denaro, l’esponente criminale non ha esitato a mettere in atto pesanti manovre estorsive, aggravate dall’utilizzo del metodo mafioso. Per questi reati contro la persona e il patrimonio, nel 2022 il GUP del Tribunale di Firenze lo ha condannato in primo grado a otto anni di reclusione con rito abbreviato.

Il territorio toscano era per lui anche un crocevia per lo spaccio. L’operazione Erba di Grace ha infatti certificato il suo coinvolgimento in un traffico di sostanze stupefacenti radicato nella provincia di Pistoia. Una rete illecita che gli è costata una condanna a quattro anni di reclusione, emessa dal GIP fiorentino nel 2021 e successivamente confermata dalla Corte d’Appello nel 2022.

Queste attività si sommavano a quelle scoperte nell’ambito dell’operazione Magma della DDA reggina, culminata nel 2019 con quarantacinque provvedimenti cautelari e una pesantissima condanna a venti anni di reclusione per traffico internazionale di stupefacenti.

Il sequestro dei beni e le misure personali

La stretta sinergia tra le Direzioni Distrettuali Antimafia di Firenze e Reggio Calabria ha permesso di ricostruire la netta sproporzione tra i redditi dichiarati e la reale ricchezza a disposizione dell’uomo. Applicando il ‘Codice Antimafia’, la Corte di Cassazione ha rigettato i ricorsi della difesa e confermato le decisioni assunte in primo e secondo grado.

Lo Stato ha così incamerato in via definitiva una società, un fabbricato, tre autoveicoli, svariate disponibilità finanziarie e un’imbarcazione da pesca lunga circa sedici metri. Oltre al colpo inferto al portafoglio, il decreto della Corte d’Appello reggina ha reso operativa anche la misura di prevenzione personale, che obbligherà l’individuo a un regime di sorveglianza speciale, con l’obbligo di risiedere nel proprio comune per un periodo di quattro anni.

L’epilogo di questa indagine segna un punto cruciale nella tutela della sana imprenditoria, contrastando le infiltrazioni mafiose nel mercato per restituire trasparenza e legalità all’intero tessuto economico.

Ebbene, il governo ha deciso, su nostra richiesta, che questi sono i contratti firmati dalle organizzazioni comparativamente maggiormente rappresentative e, cioè, da Cgil, Cisl e Uil, che garantiscono più tutele e salari più alti. Fino a ieri questo principio non era scritto da nessuna parte: quindi si tratta di un atto positivo. Poi è chiaro che, ora, va declinato. A tal proposito, bisognerà fare un accordo con Cgil, Cisl e con le nostre controparti per definirne l’attuazione e l’applicazione. È per questo che abbiamo chiesto al governo sia di non esercitare la delega sia di dare i contributi soltanto alle aziende che applicano questi contratti”.

Bombardieri, poi, è intervenuto, ancora una volta, sulla questione della sicurezza sul lavoro. “Per noi, quella di zero morti sul lavoro resta una battaglia fondamentale e non ci fermeremo fino a quando non avremo raggiunto questo obiettivo. Con il governo è stato fatto qualche passo in avanti, ma occorre fare di più sul fronte della prevenzione, della formazione e degli investimenti. Soprattutto – ha precisato Bombardieri – occorre che ci sia più coordinamento tra i vari attori che si occupano di questi temi ed è necessario che le Regioni non facciano gare al massimo ribasso, mettendo un limite agli appalti a cascata”.

Infine, a chi gli ha chiesto che cosa ne pensasse del dibattito sulla legge elettorale, il leader della Uil ha risposto: “Ci sono così tanti problemi nel mondo del lavoro che non abbiamo il tempo di pensare alla legge elettorale. Strong industry interest across Benelux, the UK and Switzerland supports REJURAN’s phased expansion across Europe 

SEOUL, South Korea, May 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — PharmaResearch Co., Ltd., the South Korean regenerative medicine company behind the REJURAN, has completed a five-market Western Europe roadshow for REJURAN, its PN-based skin booster, as it expands the brand’s footprint across the region. 

As REJURAN begins its Western European rollout, the roadshow served as a platform to introduce healthcare practitioners (HCPs) to PharmaResearch’s DNA Optimizing Technology (DOT™) based technology and its clinical use cases. The company said that the events drew strong interest from the industry, with attendees raising detailed questions about the product’s characteristics and practical applications. 

The roadshow opened with a Benelux symposium on April 22 and 23, followed by events in the United Kingdom on April 28 and Switzerland on April 30. Held near the Belgium-Netherlands border, the Benelux event brought together healthcare practitioners from both markets, while the United Kingdom event welcomed medical professionals and industry stakeholders. 

REJURAN’s global KOLs led the symposium sessions, presenting clinical results, treatment protocols and real-world case examples. The sessions covered the full REJURAN portfolio, including REJURAN for broader facial use, REJURAN I for thinner skin areas such as the eye area, and REJURAN S for wrinkle and scar-related applications. 

The roadshow also served as a foundation for REJURAN’s broader growth in Europe. PharmaResearch completed its first shipment for the European market in January and has been building its local distribution network since then. Following positive early feedback, the company is expanding product supply and increasing its clinical education programs across the region. 

Following the five-market Western Europe roadshow, PharmaResearch plans to continue the program in Italy in May, Poland in June and France in September. The company also plans to expand into Germany and other European markets in the second half of the year, further building REJURAN’s regional presence.
